I've had a lot of customers that have spent months and months building their website...before even launching it. That's where the big problem comes in. Either a person is a perfectionist or they're getting hooked on all of the technicalities of building a membership site.

A lot of people don't want to be techie...but sometimes they get tempted to if they're building there own membership website. For example, there are many people that like using Wordpress. It's a simple to use content management system and a great blog platform. However, it allows people to easily install plugins. A plugin (which are software scripts) extends the abilities of the software. So what happens next? People start playing around with dozens of plugins to see what they like the most...and some people spend many hours wasting time doing this.

The only advice I can give for this is to only use what you think you'll need. I typically keep my plugins down to 10. This also reduces the chances of incompatibilities between other applications that are integrated with Wordpress.

Using Non-Traditional Membership Sites to Launch Fast!

Another issue is developing content. With traditional membership sites, you'll have to created months and months of content ahead of time. So when a person logs in, they'll see a huge archive of items to choose from. With newer auto-drip membership sites, you don't have to do that. This is a huge time saver and it allows you to launch your membership site fast.
