The method that you password protect a web page will depend on your purpose.

Are you trying to hide a page for your own personal purposes or are you trying to create a members only site?

If it’s just for your own personal use, one of the easiest ways to do this is by using Wordpress. Wordpress is a blogging platform which has a built-in password protection function. All you have to do is create a new page or post and change the “Visibility” mode to “Password protected”. Then simply enter a password and press OK.

It really doesn’t matter if you’re using your site as a blog or not. Wordpress can be used for a content management system. That is, you can create content for your site and it does not have to be a blog.

If you’re plan is to create a subscription based business, then you might want to view this web based membership software comparison.
